Salt & Pepper Hair

Want to go gray with style?  Thinking about transitioning to gray hair but you're worried you may look old?   We're here to tell you that grays, silvers and whites are the new Blondes.  As in Bombshell.  Our striking Salt and Pepper gray hair transition service enhances your natural grays, whites and silvers to achieve fashion forward looks that result in fewer trips to the salon and not having to look like you just gave up.   The looks available with this gray hair transition service range from edgy to tame, so you get to make as big, (or small), a statement as you care to make.

Many of our clients are opting out of constant color maintenance to cover grays.  We like to think of it as "natural but better".  It doesn't try to hide what mother nature gave you; it just makes her gift more appealing.  Our typical gray coverage client comes in every 3 to 4 weeks to hide gray, which is perfect for those who choose that route, but it's not right for everyone.

Time between salon visits to maintain Salt and Pepper looks can be 12 weeks, 6 months, or never.  It all depends on the hair you have and the look you want. Most looks can be done in a single sitting while a few require multiple visits to achieve the final result.  The service is appropriate for every texture.

The salt and pepper hair service requires a one hour pre-paid consultation prior to your appointment date ($100).  This allows us to fully assess your hair and understand the look you're after.  It also ensures we schedule the right amount of time and assistant help.  Schedule a 1 hour prepaid consultation with Kris.

  • The price of the service is $250/hr  (gratuity included)

Salt & Pepper FAQ

  • People that want to incorporate their natural gray, silver and white tones into a fashion forward look that requires less time and money than frequent salon trips to cover gray.

  • People that don't have natural grays, silver or white tones in their hair.  If you want to go gray or silver and don't have these tones naturally, we refer to that service as a color transformation.  We do both; the difference between Salt and Pepper and a Color Transformation is that the former works with and enhances the colors you have, while the latter typically involves removing existing color and lightening to those silvers, grays and whites.  It can still be done and costs the same, it's just a totally different approach.  If you have no grays, whites or silvers and you want this look, contact us to discuss a Color Transformation.

  • Salt and Pepper Hair is priced at $250/hr with gratuity included.  The price for follow-up maintenance visits, if required, is usually about the cost of a highlight. The time your service takes will be quoted after the consultation. Typical timings are from 3-6 hours with 4 being average.

  • Currently, only our owner Kris does this service.  It's one of her specialties.

  • Everything.  Lightening, highlights and low-lights if needed, color if needed, silverizing, masques, treatments, gratuity and everything else your hair needs to achieve the result you want while maintaining the health of your hair.

  • It varies according to many factors including the look you want and how fast your hair grows.  Most clients go 12 weeks or longer before coming in for a refresh.  Some go a lot longer and some never have to come in.   At the very least, you'll be cutting your trips to the salon for gray coverage in half.

  • Kris can schedule a full highlight or balayage in the time a Salt and Pepper consultation takes so we feel a $100 consultation charge is more than reasonable. This is time that would otherwise be spent during the appointment, but for Salt & Pepper we break it up into two sessions; the consult and the color service. The consultation is non-refundable unless cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy. (24 hrs or more before the consultation). Schedule a 1 hr pre-paid consultation with Kris here.

  • It's great for all textures, including curly and very curly.  We do a lot of curly hair at our salon and realize that coloring curly hair can be quite different than other textures.  The service also works well on everything from coarse, thicker hair to fine hair.  What it's not appropriate for is over processed hair without some corrective measures before we begin.  Occasionally, people come to the consultation with hair that needs a "cooling off" period after significant processing at another salon.  If Kris determines that your hair isn't ready for the service, she will recommend an at-home "healing regime" before you come in for the service.

  • No.  Nothing we do is gender specific, including this service.
