We get ocassional questions about the type of people we hire, the kind of color we use and the way we run our business.  It's amazing sometimes the questions prospective customers ask, but it's understandable.  You want to know what kind of place you're thinking about placing your trust in.  To that end, the paragraphs below should be a good start.

Training and Education

The best never stop learning.   At the point you think you know it all, you've gone as far as you can go.  We don't want to work with know-it-alls.  Even our most experienced educators are continually learning and growing.

We receive an overwhelming number of resumes so we can afford to be picky.  It's not bragging, it's just how it is.   We hire from local schools and from national schools such as Sassoon, Toni & Guy, Aveda and Paul Mitchell.  We rarely hire anyone who is not "just out of school".   Everyone we hire goes through our training program.   No two stylists are the same, but having everyone go through the same training program means our customers get a level of consistency no matter which stylist they choose to see.  Our cutting training is based on Vidal Sassoon technique.  Our color is based primarily around Wella products and techniques.   We've got some impressive sounding titles and awards, but listing them would be bragging, so we won't.  Rest assured, you're in good hands when you come here.   And if something's not right, we will do everything in our power to make it right.

Who we hire   We look for three things when hiring:

  • A focus on others.  Me me me me me me me me gets really old.   It's about we.  We believe that when you treat others well, you do well.  Someone willing to throw others under the bus to benefit themselves won't make it here.  Nobody looks good in tire marks
  • A passion for the beauty business.   We want people that are interested in more than a paycheck.   We want to hire people that love what they do.
  • Technical skills.   We want people that either have great skills or are willing to learn them.  Skills can be taught to those willing to learn.

 Our Level System

In order to keep our professionals moving forward in their careers and to facilitate placing clients with the experience and price level they want, our stylists are grouped into "Levels" that correspond to experience level and educational achievement.   The levels are 1, 2 and 3, with 3 being the highest.   The higher the level the more experienced the stylist, the more education they have, and the longer they have been with us.  You pay more for higher levels.   Probably not a big surprise.

Thinking of becoming a customer, but still not sure?  Feel free to call and ask us anything else you want to know.   It's your money.  It's your look.  You have a right to know.
